Sicilian food and Sicily’s typical products will be the protagonists of a five-day event at Fuori Expo, which is organized on the sidelines of the world’s fair in Milan by artisans’ union Confartigianato.
Starting next Wednesday until Sunday, the Italian Makers Village in Via Tortona 32 in Milan will open its doors to Sicilian top quality products with free tastings, cooking workshops, folk music and dances, conferences and exhibits to enable local craftsmen to showcase their products.
Local artisans will show and sell their products of excellence across 1,800 square meters set up by Confartigianato.
”It is a very important opportunity for our small and medium-sized firms, which will have the possibility of meeting new national and foreign buyers and the advantage of accessing new markets”, said Filippo Ribisi, president of the Sicilian chapter of Confartigianato.
The event will also be an occasion to ”promote Sicilian excellence, with exhibition sites that will illustrate to show visitors the history and traditions of the island through products from its territory”, he added.
The event will open with an aperitif followed by dinner on Wednesday with lentils from Villalba and folk music by Sicilian artist Corrado Sillitti.
Thursday will be dedicated to food companies and the theme ”Sicily, friend of kidneys” while ”Cheese 2015” on Friday will be dedicated to the preservation of Italian cheeses.
The week dedicated to Sicily at Fuori Expo will end Sunday with a performance by comedian Luca Virago.
